The life of the x-y shifter is 400-500 000 miles. If you are around this milage, better start with replacing it. The harness can go bad too, the most expensive part is the TCU. Get the Eaton manuals and do the "Electrical Pretest", then do the test for code 63 "Gear Select motor" and you will know if you have bad harness or not.Eaton has a great troubleshooting manual. If you are not shifting from low to high or from high to low, check the input sensors or the Range Solenoid Valve. I had the same problem, sometimes it would shift from 2 to 10 then when it got hot, in about 10 minutes, it would not shift. Sometimes stayed in high gear.
